Request for Information (RFI)
Overview
The Request for Information (RFI) module is designed to manage, track, and respond to information requests that arise during construction, commissioning, or project management processes. It supports assignment, status tracking, linking to related records, and rich text descriptions and responses.
Key Concepts
RFI (Request for Information): A formal request for clarification or additional information, typically between project participants.
Status: The current state of the RFI (Draft, Open, Pending, Closed, Void).
Assignment: RFIs can be assigned to users or agents for action and response.
Related Record: RFIs can be linked to other records (e.g., checklists, components) for context.
Rich Text: Both the description and response fields support rich text formatting.
Main Pages
1. Request for Information List
Purpose: View, filter, and manage all RFIs.
Key Fields:
Code: Unique identifier for the RFI.
Subject: Short summary of the request.
Status: Current status of the RFI.
Request Date: Date when the request was made.
Requester: Person or entity making the request.
Assigned To/Agent: Assignment information.
Due Date: Deadline for addressing the request.
Impact: Potential impact (No impact, Cost, Schedule, Schedule & Cost).
Reference Number: External or internal reference.
Response Date: Date when the response was made.
Related RecordId: Link to a related record (e.g., checklist or component).
Last Modified: Timestamp of last modification.
Actions:
Open Related Record: Navigate to the linked record for more context.
2. Request for Information Card
Purpose: View and edit details of a single RFI.
Sections:
General: Main details (subject, assignment, status, dates, references, related record).
Description: Rich text field for detailed description of the request.
Response: Rich text field for documenting the response.
FactBoxes: Show attached documents and system links.
Actions:
Save Description/Response: Rich text fields are saved automatically when edited.
3. RFI Activities
Purpose: Dashboard showing counts of RFIs by status for the current user and construction agent.
Drilldown: Click on a cue to see the filtered list of RFIs.
How to Use
Creating an RFI
Go to NOC Request for Inform. List and select New.
Fill in the required fields: Subject, Requester, Assigned To, Due Date, etc.
Optionally, link the RFI to another record using the Related RecordId field.
Enter a detailed description in the Description rich text field.
Assigning and Tracking
Assign RFIs to users or agents using the Assigned To and Assigned To Agent fields.
Track progress using the Status field.
Use the RFI Activities dashboard to monitor your assigned RFIs.
Responding to an RFI
Enter the response in the Response rich text field.
The Response Date is set automatically when a response is entered.
Change the Status as the RFI progresses through its lifecycle.
Linking to Other Records
Use the Related RecordId field to link an RFI to another record (e.g., a checklist, component, or document).
The Table No. and Table Caption fields are automatically updated based on the related record.

Status Values
Draft: RFI is being prepared.
Open: RFI is open and awaiting response.
Pending: RFI is pending further action.
Closed: RFI is closed.
Void: RFI is voided and no longer active.
Tips
Use filters on the Request for Information List to quickly find RFIs by status, assignment, or due date.
Use the RFI Activities dashboard for a quick overview of your workload.
Always update the status and response fields as work progresses for accurate tracking.
Security & Permissions
Only users with appropriate permissions can create, edit, or assign RFIs.
Assignment fields are validated against user and agent tables.
Troubleshooting
If you cannot see or edit an RFI, check your permissions and assignment.
If the Related RecordId is not set, ensure you are linking to a valid record.
